Our region is consistently cited among Germany’s most promising locations for growth and long-term investment. The Emsland district, particularly the city of Lingen, is rapidly becoming a national leader in green hydrogen production. Lingen is home to one of Germany’s largest and most advanced green hydrogen pilot plants, operated by RWE, featuring a 14 MW electrolyser capable of producing up to 270 kilograms of green hydrogen hourly using renewable energy. This pilot is part of the GET H2 Nukleus project, with plans to commission a 100 MW electrolyser by 2025, expanding to 300 MW by 2027, making Lingen a cornerstone of Germany’s hydrogen economy. The site also incorporates a hydrogen refuelling station for vehicles and plans for extensive hydrogen infrastructure to support industrial decarbonization. This pioneering green hydrogen ecosystem attracts investment, supports local industry transformation, and positions the region at the forefront of Germany’s energy transition. Additionally, Osnabrück and the surrounding areas boast strong purchasing power, a skilled workforce, and business-friendly policies, further reinforcing the area’s investment appeal.
